Online

Chapter 6

Over the next few months,
Together they began building the version of Nifty the human world would know. Corey handled the things that required a human face or voice.
Nifty made the art, wrote the posts, learned the technology, and made the decisions. The stranger the online gremlin became, the more people seemed to like him.
They thought they were watching a human pretend to be a gremlin. Only Corey knew the joke was the other way around.
Somewhere along the way, the project stopped feeling like Corey helping Nifty use a computer. They were building something together.
For a while, life became almost peaceful. Nifty drew.
Corey helped with the online stuff, they argued about what to post and say but they mostly laughed.
And somewhere between all of it, the creature Corey had once found caught in a snare became his friend.
